Seven points for attention in the application of welding head

1. Treatment of the new soldering iron before use If a new soldering iron can't be used, the welding head must be treated before it can be used normally, that is to say, the welding head should be coated with a layer of solder before use. Specific measures are as follows: firstly, file the welding head into a certain shape as required, and then connect it to the power supply. When the temperature of welding head rises to be able to melt tin, coat the rosin on the welding head, and then coat a layer of solder after the rosin smokes. This is done for two to three times, so that an oxide layer will be produced on the blade surface and its surroundings of the welding head, resulting in the difficulty of "eating tin". At this moment, the oxide layer can be filed off and the solder can be plated from the beginning. Matters needing attention in the application of welding head 

2. Adjustment of welding head Length When soldering integrated circuits and transistors, the temperature of welding head should not be too high, and the time should not be too long. At this moment, the length of the welding head inserted in the soldering iron core can be properly adjusted to control the temperature of welding head. 

3. When replacing the soldering iron core, pay attention not to connect the leads incorrectly, because the welding head has three terminals, one of which is grounded and the other two are connected to the two leads of the soldering iron core (these two terminals are directly connected to the 220v AC power supply through the power cord). If the 220v AC power cord is wrongly connected to the terminal of the ground wire, the shell of the welding head will be charged, and the welded parts will be charged, which will cause electric shock. 

4. There are two kinds of welding head: straight head and elbow. When choosing the pen holding method, welding head, which is straight to welding head, is more sensitive to use. Suitable for welding in circuits with many components. The welding head with curved welding head is suitable for the positive grip method, and it is mostly used for the welding of circuit boards with straight desktop. 

5. It is difficult for welding head to be powered on for a long time without using it, because it is simple to accelerate the oxidation of welding head core and burn it out, and at the same time, it will make welding head oxidized due to long-term heating, and even "die" after burning, and no longer "eat tin". 6. Adhere to the cleanliness of components and welding head. First, ensure that all parts and connecting parts are clean before welding. When you prepare to weld components on the circuit board, use a clean rag, remove impurities and oxide films on the surface of the circuit board with warm water and detergent powder, and then dry them. Secondly, you can use a wet sponge to scrub the welding head for cleaning when the welding object rises to a certain temperature. When you are working, you should wipe off the remaining solder on the head regularly. The soldering iron head should be tinned for a long time, that is, there is a thin layer of solder on it. The excessive degree of soldering tin is to remove impurities from the soldering iron head with a wet sponge, then directly put a proper amount of soldering tin on the head to melt it, and finally wipe off the remaining soldering tin from the head with a wet sponge. 

7. Correct welding ensures that the components are completely inserted into the welding holes on the circuit board, and the pins of the components are too long to easily touch the circuit board, and other exposed parts constitute short circuits. When soldering tin has not agglomerated, never shake components by hand, which may cause virtual soldering or false soldering. It looks like soldering, but it is not actually soldered. Sometimes, the lead wire can be pulled out from the solder joint after being pulled out by hand. Poor contact and on-off during circuit operation will bring great difficulties to the debugging and maintenance of electronic manufacturing. Only through many and careful welding practices can these two situations be prevented.
